Donkey Basketball anyone?

The last several weeks have flown by quickly.  It's hard to think that Kinnley will have her second surgery in just three weeks.  Kinnley has learned to use her little walker to navigate the house, and use for short walks at school.  Otherwise, she is using a wheelchair at school.  The kids don't seem to shy away from the chair.  In fact, they usually circle around her waiting their turn to push.  And of course, Kinnley is taking full advantage, bossing everyone on where to go, how fast, who can push next, etc.  Little Miss Sassy pants!

Kinnley's next surgery is March 13th.  At that time, they will replace her full cast on post-surgery foot to a half cast, and give her a walking boot for that foot.  Her other foot will then be operated on and put into a full leg cast.  We had a cast change yesterday on her pre-op foot, and she chose purple to match her headband.  Then we had to go for pre-op blood work.  That didn't go so well.  Kinnley started crying and Lainie ran to her side.  It was hard for me to figure out how to also console her because Kinnley was sandwiched between Jad and Lainie.  So I was left to simply hold her hand and stroke her face.

There were lots of kids at Shriner's yesterday.  Many had forms of dwarfism, and several others were there getting adjustments to their prosthetic legs.  Just like Kinnley, nothing was slowing down these kiddos.  Full out fun where ever they went!  These special needs are definitely manageable, and ones adoptive parents should consider.

Speaking of adoption, a friend started a new advocacy website to promote the adoption of 20 Chinese children at a time.  Here is her website:  twentyless.com  There are some precious kids on her site!  Check out the videos of little Parker.  He is amazing!  I've also added a few more links to favorite sites that I lurk on the left hand sidebar.  A few of these are either adopting in China now, or waiting to go soon.  It's amazing to see where God leads when a family steps out on faith.

This weekend, our town had a donkey basketball game.  There were kids from the local high school, teachers, and community leaders on the teams.  If you've never been to one of these, you will certainly find them entertaining.  These animals have a stubborn streak a mile wide, and a mind of their own.  Most seemed determined to go the opposite direction of the rider's urging.  And of course, what donkey basketball game would be complete without a "pooper scooper detail team".  What can I say?  In a small town, this is big stuff!  :)
