Rockin' Along

Our beautiful girls at the piano recital
Life is rocking along.  Kailee and Lainie had their piano recitals, and performed marvelously.  ;)  I am so proud of them!  Their school award ceremony is this weekend, which marks the official start of the summertime fun. The girls are more than ready for the summer break, and looking forward to fun at the beach, a couple of camps, and of course those mandatory late night sleepovers with friends.  :)

Mei continues to thrive.  She is such an entertainer, and had a blast showing her character to my parents and sisters who were in for four days.  From her pictures, we all expected a meek little girl with a small voice.  Instead, we have an exuberant and rather loud child who looks forward to interactions at all cost.  Ha!  We have two tricycles, and larger and one smaller.  The peddles are broken on the smaller one, but Mei has figured out how to peddle it anyway.  And Granddaddy even took his turn riding trikes around the place.  :)

Mei seems to be a more picky eater lately.  I'm about to come to the conclusion that this is our issue and not hers.  I've been pretty flexible in letting her choose what to eat and what to pass on.  I may try putting my foot down more firmly and insist she eat whatever is presented.  We'll see how that goes.

We continue to struggle with the motion sickness.  Did you know air sick bags can be bought in mass quantity over the internet?  Yup. Meclizine normally does the trick, but I have to make sure she has a decent meal on her stomach and takes the meds and hour before we leave.  Otherwise, she will still throw up.  Even after the meds, she got sick when we drove through a windy subdivision near our house.  We'll keep working on it.  We are headed to the beach next week.  It's 3.5 hours away, so we'll just hope for the best.  I know she will love it, so we'll just have to try to push through.  We'll leave at night, so I'll give her the meds a couple hours before, and we'll leave at her bedtime.  Hopefully she will just sleep through the drive.  Any/all prayers appreciated!

$5 sip 'n slide fun
Our next biggest challenge will be swimming.  Mei LOVES the water, but has no clue that she will sink like a rock if the water is over her head.  So the goal of our trip will be to teach her to swim.  I have absolutely no doubt that she can accomplish this.  She has proven time and again that she can overcome any challenge.  Watch for more pictures next week!  :)
