Birthdays and Tooth Fairy visits

It has been a busy couple weeks.  Lainie had a sleepover last weekend.  She and her buddies cracked 100 cascarones on each others heads, sprayed each other with silly string, and jumped their legs off on the trampoline.  when the action slowed down, my friends came over to give them makeovers, complete with manicures, makeup, dresses, and wigs.  Afterwards it was time for ice cream cake.  Jaci picked out some candles that said "quick light" on the label.  It should have said "warning...will all light at same time and scare the pants off mom!".  When I lit the first candle, the cake erupted in a quick flash.  yikes!  Lainie quickly blew them out and I checked to make sure everyone still had eyebrows. I sighed with great relief to see they were all present and accounted for.  I was not looking forward to calling a mom to ask if they minded singed eyebrows or missing bangs!  Mental note...stay away from fast light candles.  Once things finally settled down, the girls piled out into the tent and had a fun night of girly giggles.  All in all, we'll call it a successful sleepover.  :)

On other fronts, we are keeping the Tooth Fairy busy.  Both Lainie and Kinnley lost a tooth last week.  Kailee had to have four permanent teeth pulled in prep for braces.  She was so very nervous.  Our dentist called her in a prescription of valium, and offered to have her put to sleep by the anesthesiologist.  Even with valium onboard, she was shaking with anxiety in the waiting room.  Once back in the office they gave her laughing gas.  Then the anesthesiologist turn on the sleep gas and out she went.  Twenty minutes later she was woke up with four less teeth in her head and giggling uncontrollably.  It was pretty entertaining at that point.  I think she was just elated that it was over.  :)  Yesterday, Kailee had her braces put on.  She is handling it ok, but going through the normal adjustment of wires in her mouth.  Poor thing.

A quick update on Kinnley.  True to her daddy's prediction, she can already walk without a walker!  The surgeon told us most kids will not attempt that until after their short cast is off - in five more weeks!  But Kinnley gave it a try after the encouragement of her big sisters.  She was sore the next day, and is asking to use her walker again for longer walks (which is fine).  But hey, great progress!

More fun to post soon, as Jaci and Kailee head to their first school formal event...the Spring Banquet.  They modeled their dresses for Dad and he took the transformation well while they were in the room, telling them how beautiful they looked.  Once out of the room, he gave me "the look", informing me that he wished they would stay little a while longer.  :)  Pictures of the event to come in the next week.
