"T" minus 42 days

Countdown to China travel - "T" minus 42 days (Kailee is our official countdown tracker)...

Forty-two days seems very close and yet so far away.  We have packing lists in place, but yet I keep wondering what "don't leave home without it" item is missing.  It's not like this is our first trip, but it has been almost 11 years.  And of course with this trip, we are adopting seven year old instead of an infant.  I can cross off the diapers and formula, but what do I need to replace it with?  Eeek!  :)

Back on the home front...We were all prepared to have another home study, as these are usually required within 30 days of travel.  But today we received some good news!  Since our homestudy will be less than a year old at the time we receive Kinnley Meilynn, we do not need an update.  Wahoo - one less thing to do!  The update would also have required updated employment letters and doctor letters stating we were still "healthy and free of communicable diseases".  That saves several phone calls and at least two doctor visits.  Our weekends between now and travel are quickly filling up, so this is one less thing to have to schedule.  :)

I hope to tag up with some other folks in our GWCA travel group, or perhaps some folks that will be in Nanning at the same time.  It's so great to share the experience with other families and build new friendships.  Hopefully some of the folks will also travel with their older kids.  Our girls would love to have some other kiddos to hang out with.  :)
