| Fun at VBS |
Well, July is upon us! Kinnley is becoming more and more at home. Not that she wasn't before, but her comfort level just seems to grow with each day. Someone once told me that adoptive children reveal themselves and adjust in 3's. In the first 3 minutes, they decide if they will cry or not. In 3 hours, they figure out that they aren't going back to the orphanage or foster home. In 3 days, they settle in and begin to trust their new family. In 3 weeks, their personality is truly coming out. In 3 months, they are fully at home. We are just a couple weeks shy of that 3 month mark with Kinnley. One of the best examples of her recent comfort level was Vacation Bible School at our church. Kinnley absolutely loved it! She looked forward to every night of the fun. She was so at ease, and would run to the front of the church to join all the kids in singing songs and doing the hand motions. Here is a picture of the fun, and also one of Kinnley's dedication at church.

The Texas heat is upon us. The days are upper 90's to 100's. Too hot for the girls to play outside during the day for any extended time. But luckily, the evenings cool down enough for everyone to head outdoors. Kinnley loves riding on her "new to me" tricycle. She had a hard time peddling initially. Jad replaced the pedals with wider plates, and away she goes! The other girls ride a huge tricycle, bikes, or scooters. Animals also tend to come out at dusk. We've seen a racoon and armadillo, and Jaci is busy catching and "saving" every lizard she can find. She is our bleeding heart animal lover...so tender-hearted. :)

As always, the summer is full of play dates and sleep overs with friends. The girls are pretty creative with entertaining themselves. Lately, my closet has been the source of many hours of dress up fun. I really don't find, as long as they hang everything up afterwards. The surprising thing is that Mei will find shorter heels and figured out how to walk in them. Okay, maybe that shouldn't be surprising to me by now. :)
We went to a fireworks show this weekend. Kinnley loved the wonderful "pow pow"! It's awesome to see things through her eyes.
Jad has a new grill, and we've enjoyed grilling outside at night. Kailee is the main chef in the family, and finds new recipes for everyone to try. And of course every chef needs their own assistants, and the little girls always want to help. :)
We haven't heard from Shiner's hospital yet. Hopefully we'll receive news on Kinnley's appointment within the next week or so. We're ready to have them examine her from head to toe, and get a plan formulated for her. Unless they see a need for immediate surgery, we'll hold off on that until after the first of the year. That gives her time to learn more English, and gives us time to rebuild our vacation and sick leave time. Kinnley spent her last hospital stay in an area that spoke a different dialect, and by herself. Thank you Lord, that that will never have to happen again.
