| Daddy and his little girls |
I was so glad we had a quiet evening with room service last night. It allowed us to be just a family of six without too much other activity going on. Today started early, as we had three different appointments to complete the Chinese adoption within the Province. At breakfast, the five adoptive families in the hotel all compared notes on how their children were adapting. Mei would share her head yes or no shyly when I asked which dishes she wanted. She preferred some familiar food, like congealed pork blood with leaks. For some reason, the rest of us bypassed that delicious dish. But when we got to the fruit area, Mei dragged me straight to the watermelon and pointed with a big smile. She also drank some watermelon juice. We have a melon girl!
We left on the bus around 9:00. I brought some homeopathic motion sickness meds with me and put the oil behind Mei's ears before we left. However, these just didn't do the trick. Car sickness hit Mei quickly and she threw up several times on the way to our appointments. Thankfully I had some trash bags with me. The same occurred on the way home. Our guide took Jad to the local pharmacy to find some patches. We'll try these tomorrow. It could be a LONG train ride to Hong Kong, not to mention a long plane ride home. Yikes. Please pray that these patches work for her.
The orphanage director and two nannies met us for the appointments. They told us a bit more about Mei, and seemed genuinely happy for her. As their van pulled away from the building, they rolled down the windows and cheered at Mei.
Mei continues to be a silly monkey. The girls are doing such a great job entertaining her. Mei loves to hold their hands. She still amazes me. I can't believe she can walk, run, and even skip!. It's unbelievable given her twisted little feet. We talked to an adoptive father today who is a doctor in Bryan. He thinks she might have twisted tibia. We'll see what the orthopedic surgeon says in a few weeks.
To sum up today - all is great! As far as the Chinese government is concerned, Mei is now our child. We'll get the documents to prove it later the week. Yeah!
Love to all - the Hubbard clan
