Success! We used the motion sickness patches and put Mei by an open window. She was a little apprehensive, but still willing to climb aboard. I think she would rather get sick than miss any adventures. She did great on the trip, no sickness! I don't know if it was the patches or keeping half her head out the window, but it certainly worked! Thank you Jesus! I was dreading future bus rides, trains, and airplanes.
Today we visited a tourist park which is on a hill in the city. It was so beautiful! The kids got to get out and about, and I got some great pictures. Later, we went down to the hotel pool. We put water wings and a circle float on Mei. She waded in and never looked back. Zero fear. I pray that fortitude will carry her far, and perhaps help her press through the upcoming treatments needed for her feet. Her left hand turns in and is weaker than the other, but she still has fairly good use of it. She can't tie a bow, but does figure out how to use it for many other things. That will probably be secondary to her feet.
Mei is a very active and silly girl. When she wants attention, she will be a clown or tease someone. Today, she found a dirty sock and threw it on Jad's head to get him to chase her through the room and tickle her. We went to a park down the street yesterday with two other adoptive families yesterday. Jaci bought a cheap soccer ball at the department store and took it along. The kids were able to wear off some "hotel room energy". You would think Mei would be cautious when playing, but she is full force energy wherever we go. Nothing slows this little girl down. She has more energy than our other three kids combined, and is an extrovert. When she sees someone smiling at her she will raise her hand and call out "hello!". She sings, chats, and talks most of the day. Lainie said Mei is girly like her, likes to eat the same things as Jaci, and is crazy like Kailee. :) Mei is so easy to entertain. She loves anything we give her...Barbies, coloring, bubbles, stickers, balloons. I think she could entertain herself with a piece of lint. If there were two pieces of lint, she would use them to put on a show. Silly girl!
Awesome big sister lovin'! |
During the tour of the hill park today, Lainie's fan club showed up. People slow down, point, and stare at her. Once lady came up to take a picture of Lainie, but then got brave and asked me to take a picture with Lainie. After asking Lainie for permission, I took a picture of the two of them. Sometimes we feel like we are wearing neon shirts that say "please stare at me!". People stare at us for several reasons. Some because we are foreigners, some because we are a blended race family, some stare at Mei, and others stare at Lainie. I teased Lainie that she was a star. She just shyly grins and turns away.
The girls are all getting along so well. They are protective of their little sister and seem to take turns watching after her. Kailee is trying to teach her the ABC's. Life at the moment is wonderful. Can we please freeze time now? Thank you Jesus for this time and the blessing of Mei!
Love to all -
Just wonderful...the Mei shaped space has been filled perfectly!!!!!!
