With just a couple hours of sleep, Jad and I were up getting ready for the trip. The girls were easy to roust out of bed. Jad's dad took us to the airport. Luckily, we had some extra time to go through security. The lines were long due to the Easter holiday weekend. As we filed through security, Jaci and Jad were last. Both were selected for body scans. Jaci thought it was funny to have to stand in the clear booth. Evidently when Jad went through, the Security team saw the money belt he was wearing. Two security agents quickly ushered him to gather his boots, belt, etc., and took him into the little room with the frosted glass windows. They came out several times with material swabs which they wiped over Jad and his belongings to ensure there were not bomb making particle residue. After quite a bit of fanfare, they decided Jad was not a risk to national security and released him into our care. J
The flight to San Francisco allowed us to get just a few winks of sleep. After boarding the flight only to wait at the gate for an hour and a half while they worked on lighting issues. Once that was fixed, we were off to Beijing. It was a long flight with little sleep. We met another adoptive couple at the Beijing airport. We'll be meeting up with another family tomorrow to tour and try to get our body clocks adjusted. Then we leave early Sunday to go to Nanning, and will meet Mei on Monday!
| Ready to board the plane for Beijing! |
Love to all. Please pray us home!
